Ahmet Hacıoğlu went to Bulgaria
Milen Nakov, the Principal of the school, introduced Mr. Ahmet Hacioglu to the history of school, it´s facilities, school activities and its priorities. During the meeting were discussed future projects on drug and violence prevention. It was found mutual interest in closer cooperation and collaboration particularly in health education, which is teaching of health values and health behaviors among the students and young people with disabilities and seeking continuous open dialogue with them as well.
More than an year I follow with an interest the initiatives that are happening in the School for children with special educational needs in Pleven. I heard about the school from colleagues in Istanbul, who told me about their partnership with this Bulgarian school on the project „Together against drugs”. At first I was attracted by the title of the project and especially on word “drug”. It seems that this word is inconvenient for a lot of people, and we still think, that this cannot happen to me or to my child. So, day by day, I virtually joined the world without drugs and children with disabilities. I thank personally to Petya Marcheva, psychologist of this school, who at many instances answered my questions about the nature of work on drug prevention on children and young people with special educational needs. I am glad and I feel a deep pleasure about the fact that a team of professionals special pedagogues from this school, with hard work and efforts succeeded to attract the attention of a lot of international organizations, schools and institutions and to unite their efforts in the name of the future – happy and healthy children. International initiative „All together for better world” is worthy of admiration and tribute. I was not surprised by the evaluation of CE (Council of Europe) that put the project „Together against drugs” among 11-th best European projects on drug struggle. All of these made me to visit the School for children with special educational needs – Pleven, Bulgaria. The feeling to see all this from close was amazing. And I believe that we all “together for better world” with common efforts will succeed to save and free our children from drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and violence.
